The Golden Dieting Rule You Need to Know for Sustainable Weight Loss

Weighing your meals can be a pain in the bum, however if you want consistent positive results you need to weigh your food. Rather than just tell you to do this I'm going to explain exactly why this matters, I don't feel enough people truly understand how this impacts progress in both the short and long-term.

The first reason is to know exactly how many calories and grams of each macronutrient you're consuming. This is a big part of the weight loss process because without the right amounts at the right time you're going to struggle. However, this is only part of the equation...

In order to sustain progression you need to gradually adjust your diet to account for increased lean muscle tissue, higher performance output and ever increasing recovery demands. Many meal plans do not account for progression which is why a lot of people plateau. When you look at fat loss you know ultimately at some point you will need to decrease calories along the way to sustain progression.

If you have not been weighing your meals there's no way you can accurately assess what changes you need to make. For instance, by knowing your carb intake is 250g per day you can make precise adjustments going forward. When your weight loss begins to plateau you're in a position to make the right changes. If you haven't been tracking your meals, you can't make the right changes. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest reasons people plateau and find they can't progress- they don't have the right information to progress with!

Remember, what you've been eating for the previous weeks and months is one of the best indicators of what your body requires going forward. This can effect metabolism, hormonal output, recovery, performance and many other variables.

Ultimately, to progress as efficiently as possible you need to get into the habit of weighing your food.

Yes, I understand this takes a great deal of effort and time, but it will make you progress faster. Also, remember that training for months and years without making progress is also a big waste of time - therefore weighing your meals to make progressing much easier isn't such a waste of time after all- is it?
